TECHNOLOGY/REMOTE LEARNING NEEDS
Remote learning is no longer a luxury for our small, community schools, but a necessity if our schools are going to be able to continue to provide a quality education during the pandemic. The purpose of The Lion Foundation’s TECH CONNECT grant is to help our school district improve its technology to better serve our students’ educational needs during these uncertain times. Working with the district, we are committed to helping our schools acquire the technology they need to continue to deliver a quality education both remotely and in person. This includes the purchase of items such as:
STUDENT & STAFF SAFETY
Because of the pandemic, our schools need to prioritize social distancing in the classrooms and in multi-use spaces, such as cafeterias. This can be a challenge in older schools, where space is at a premium. We are working with our schools to support their rapidly changing needs.
However, our schools are looking at ways to create additional outdoor learning spaces for MS/HS students in the newly acquired space next to the gym, thus providing much needed elbow room. The schools are also updating cafeteria seating to allow for better social distancing in these areas. The Lion Foundation will be working with the district to support those important efforts. This includes the purchase of items such as:
EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Each year, The Lion Foundation helps fund programs and projects that inspire and support educational, athletic and cultural programming in our schools that tax dollars simply do not cover.
This does not change. Our schools still have K-12, curriculum-specific needs and career development programming that will not be funded without private donations. This includes funding grants such as:

STUDENT & STAFF SAFETY

This includes the purchase of items such as:
- FUNDED: New MS/HS Outdoor Picnic Table Area:
The MS/HS has requested funding to purchase 9 new tables to provide outdoor space to expand lunchtime social distancing space for students at the Middle/High School to eat lunch and recharge. - FUNDED: 2 Hoover Café Tables:
Hoover Elementary is in need of 2 additional inside cafe tables for students K-2nd grade for use in their cafeteria. The School District has money to purchase 9 tables, but a total of 11 are needed. The smaller tables will have better surfaces, allowing for easier cleaning and will be portable, allowing for transformation of the space that promotes social distancing requirements. - 6 Middle School Café Tables: $9,525 Needed.
The Lion Foundation has been funding the purchase of smaller more portable tables for use in the cafeteria over the past several years. These tables promote better social distancing practices. A final need is to purchase 6 additional inside cafe tables for use in the cafeterias of the middle and high schools (6th-12 grade) similar to above. This space is the largest space in the building, and therefore, having smaller, portable tables maximizes use of the space, while providing a safe environment for classroom instruction, lunch and study halls.
