The Lion Foundation
2023 Grant Information

The Lion Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational foundation. Our mission is to provide, direct, and subsidize funding for the realization of enhanced academic, cultural and athletic programs for the enjoyment, enrichment and enhancement of Camp Hill School District students and the community.
Start by Sharing Your Great Idea
  • Use this online application form to tell us about your GREAT IDEA
  • Requests are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and prioritized with other funding requests that are reviewed by The Lion Foundation staff and Allocations Committee.
  • Camp Hill School District employees must notify the building principal, and/or program supervisor such as the Technology Coordinator if technology is involved, Athletic Director if athletics is involved, Director of Special Education/Student Services for programs in this area, etc., prior to submitting grant applications.

What are the deadlines?
  • The application period is ongoing. We encourage applicants to submit grant requests as soon as they identified in case designated funding is available.

Where do the Funds Come From?
  • Each year, The Lion Foundation allocates a limited sum of unrestricted money which can be used to fund grant application requests based on need and merit. Priority funding will be given to academic, athletic and cultural programs benefiting CHSD.
  • Additionally, the LF holds “designated funds” which are donations received for a specific purpose and can only be used for that purpose. Designated funds include donations to athletic team funds, specific academic disciplines, band and EITC program funds.

More about Designated Funds:
  • For grants using “designated funds” (such as athletic teams, clubs, donations intended for a specific purpose), a grant application can be submitted at any time throughout the year.
  • The application will go through the review process where it will be determined if appropriate designated funds are available.
  • Applications must then be approved by the Executive Director and Allocations Chair, and can be funded immediately.

Approval Notification
  • There is no guarantee that grants will be awarded to all applicants. Each grant will be reviewed by The Lion Foundation Executive Director and the Chair of the Allocations Committee (which is the Superintendent of Schools) who will make recommendations, as part of the pre-allocations review process, to The Lion Foundation Allocations Committee. Recommendations are based on merit, need and available funding.
  • If your grant application is approved, you will be notified via email. This email will contain a Lion Foundation tracking number (e.g., “LF000”) which you will need in order to access your funding. This “LF number” should be referenced in any queries regarding your grant. The email will also contain additional information on steps to take in order to access your funding.
  • Funds awarded during the spring and fall cycle should be spent by December 30th, unless otherwise noted.
  • If funding is not available, your application may be put on hold and reconsidered as funding becomes available.

After you are awarded funds:
  • All of your communications about a funded project/program should include a mention that it was funded in part or in whole by a Lion Foundation grant or a specific sponsor/donor.
  • Unspent Funds: Any unspent funds remaining in the account at this time will be forfeited and reassigned.
  • Evaluation Report Successful applicants are required to submit a brief evaluation report and photos/videos that portray the impact of the grant within 3 months of completion of the program/project. The report should include a brief statement of what was accomplished, from students, data used to assess the program, and photos/videos of the program/project. The Lion Foundation coordinates with the CHSD on its “do not photo policy” lists and uses photos in print and social media material to inspire our donors.
