The Lion Foundation Awards More Than $17,000 in Grants
Supporting our schools, our community, our future
Camp Hill, PA—The Lion Foundation on Thursday announced that it awarded more than $17,000 in grants to support academic, athletic and cultural programs in Camp Hill School District. The Lion Foundation operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization in support of the school district and the Camp Hill community.
From supporting better technology in the classroom to strengthening a growing arts program to championing stronger athletics teams, The Lion Foundation and its donors strive every day to help make sure that Camp Hill’s students today are ready to be the leaders of tomorrow.
On May 18th, Patty Craig, superintendent of Camp Hill School District; John Kennedy, president of the Foundation; and Robin Jones, executive director, personally presented a total of $17,700 grants to recipients in the following programs:
Eisenhower Honor Our Elders Program 2018 $5,575
Hoover 2nd Grade Hershey Butterfly Gardens Field Trip $1,120
MS Math Classroom Document Camera Mrs. Smeltzer $139
MS Literacy Project Mrs. Bolcavage $212
Jumpstart 1st Grade Summer Reading Camp 2017 $1,927
Eisenhower 3rd & 4th grade Summer Reading Camp 2017 $1,683
Hoover Special Education Flexible Seating $313
Hoover Recess/Hallway Transition Program $712
Hoover Landscaping Renovation Project $2,500
Eisenhower Special Education Bumble-Bee Room Enhancements $991
Eisenhower Additional Sick Bay Reclining Couch $589

MS Lion PRIDE Reward Program $500
MS Cross Country Club Uniforms & Race Fees $900

Summer Camps for Needy Students$150
Another $7,000 in grants have been funded since February to support Camp Hill athletic teams, a memorial scholarship and summer athletic league fees. The Lion Foundation also allocates approximately $300,000 a year from the Pollock Endowment to operate and maintain the Grace Milliman Pollock Performing Arts Center.
“The Foundation is proud to make these investments in the Camp Hill community and appreciates its many donors and partnerships that make such contributions possible,” said Kennedy.
"We are truly appreciative of the wonderful support given by The Lion Foundation, its donors and our community," said Superintendent Patty Craig. "The students and teachers are significantly benefiting in the classroom, on the playing fields, on stage, in the community, and beyond thanks to this valuable funding. The Foundation's investments in our schools are allowing Camp Hill students to further excel and succeed," she added.
Each year, The Lion Foundation allocates a sum of money for Grant Requests. Requests are reviewed on a first come, first served basis and prioritized with other funding requests received by The Lion Foundation Allocations Committee. Donors are also able to donate to restricted funds for specific programs and projects. Grant information is available at http://www.thelionfoundation.org.
